Mountain Near Our Hotel

Mountain Near Our Hotel

Early morning while waiting outside our hotel in the Anza Borrego desert, the clouds appeared over a nearby mountain. The rich tone of the sky contrasted nicely with the puffy clouds.

Twin Spires in Monotone

Twin Spires in Monotone

This is a late night experiment in bringing out the darker side of a particulary ominous scene on my recent Mt. Whitney hike. It reminded me of sinister landscape, vaguely reminiscent of the land of Mordor in J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings".

The Mt. Whitney Hike

Mt Whitney 006

This was one of my most memorable accomplishments. Hiking the largest mountain in the lower 48. I've created a gallery of my photographic interpretation of this amazing peak.

If you'd like to see the photo documentary of the entire trip I've posted it on Flickr.

Study for a Double Arch

Study for a Double Arch

This is actually a study in simple photographic formalism. It's all texture, tone, composition and light. I loved how it all came together in one picture. It was taken in the city of Utrecht, in the Netherlands, while walking down a narrow corridor. I loved the double arches and the shadows they threw on the wall. Seeing it in black and white accentuated the texture in such a way that would not have been as apparent had it been in color.
