Desert
Form, texture, color and light. These are the building blocks of visual perception. They are motifs I have been working with through my photography for many years. I try to find these elements whenever I compose a picture. On a recent trip to the Anza Borrego Desert in Southern California, I was taken in by the array of shapes, tones and textures, from the small curved protrusions on the fishhook cactus to the haunting skeletal structures of the expired cholla bush. I found the desert to be a perfect setting to explore the formal qualities of black and white photography.
